Mentoring
Experience Has Benefits
With four decades of experience starting his own businesses and helping others to launch their businesses, Peter J. Burns III is the consummate mentor for millennial women, who are seeking to become successful entrepreneurs.
When the Student is Ready
Mentoring comes natural for Burns, who in the early 2000s taught entrepreneurship as an adjunct faculty member, at the highly respected Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University. There, Burns worked with countless college students, encouraging them to launch business while taking his class. Years later, Burns took his teaching practice across town to Grand Canyon University (GCU) and partnered with its entrepreneur-like founder Brent Richardson to launch the nation’s first College of Entrepreneurship at GCU.
From Business Idea to Startup
A decade ago, Burns launched Club Entrepreneur (Club E), to bring entrepreneurs together in an “open-source entrepreneurship” platform. The Phoenix chapter attracted 10,000 members. Mentoring was a core component of Club E. Along the way, Burns learned that with any “business accelerator” program, where start-ups are elevated from the “beginning” stage to a more polished business, mentoring is an important component.
A Team of Mentors
In addition to his own vast knowledge and experience as a mentor, Burns know that it helps when young female entrepreneurs have role models they can emulate. That is why he has built a network of female mentors. Those mentors have a wide range of backgrounds. Some are successful businesswomen in their own fields who are available to offer one-on-one advice. Others are women who work in a particular field, for example, online commerce. Burns enlists these businesswomen to act not only act as a mentor but also as a partner to the start-up company of Millennial Queen program participants.
Eliminate the Confusion
It is difficult and confusing to start up a business. Finding a business mentor is a challenging proposition. The Millennial Queenmaker program eliminates the challenge. It is the ideal package for any savvy young women, whose goal is to become a successful female entrepreneur.
“It’s difficult for any young person to break into the business world—but being able to find a business mentor is the best way to get started.”
